Newsletter #4 (reprise)

[Some of you may have received a previous email=2E This is the new improved version, which supercedes the other=2E]

Greetings all=2E For those of you who have been waiting for the new record, Im happy to tell you that its almost done=2E  Its taking a bit longer than expected, but it should be mixed by the end of April=2E As soon as we have a release date, Ill let you know=2E  Basic tracks are done=2E Overdubs are mostly done=2E So far, guest musicians include Viktor Krauss (upright bass), Larry Campbell (pedal steel, electric guitar), Tony Trischka (banjo), Lucy Kaplansky (harmony), Sara Milonovich (violin), Dennis McDermott (drums and percussion), and Lincoln Schleiffer (electric bass)=2E Most likely there will be one or two interesting additions before its all over and done with=2E

Greg Anderson (founder of Whirligig, sometime Klezmatics collaborator, and a permanent presence on the Cathie Ryan tour) who proved himself to be invaluable during the recording and mixing of my first record, Sparrows Point, has been making trips down to here to Buenos Aires in his capacity as co-producer (with yours truly)=2E  Lousy host that I am, he has seen none of the sights=2E The only time weve gotten out was to stroll down to the stadium where the Rolling Stones were playing=2E Our attempts to pass ourselves off as roadcrew  failed despite Gregs very convincing stab at a Yorkshire accent (as if that degree of verismilitude wouldve persuaded the argentine security-guard), so we ended up sitting outside the stadium in the rain with all the other losers who couldnt get tickets=2E We did hear some music though=2E  Im almost positive it was Satisfaction=2E Greg insists that it was Paint it Black=2E

Between now and the end of the month Ill be preparing for the upcoming tour=2E  Most of the shows Ill be playing solo (although on various instruments: electric guitar, bouzouki, nylon-string guitar, as well as the usual acoustic)=2E  A few shows (Huntington, Irvington, and possibly Wayne) Ill be accompanied by Lincoln Schleiffer and Dennis McDermott=2E  Also, there are two double-bills with Lucy Kaplansky (Lebanon, NH and Wayne, NJ)=2E Im looking forward to getting back on the road=2E Hope to see you all there=2E

-Richard
