Richard Shindell

TV Light

from Blue Divide

Lets pull the plug on this old movie
We both already know the end
Any fool can see it coming
Garbo always gets her man

He acts as if he doesnt love her
She gives him an icy stare
He lets her think he loves another
She acts as if she doesnt care

Time is passing in the TV light
Its such a shame to waste another night
When there aint nothing on the silver screen
Can hold a candle to you and me

I see this picture and I wonder
Will we let the years go by
Growing farther from each other
Though we sit here side-by-side

So Ill do the dishes in the morning
This time I swear I wont forget
I know its still a little early
But I think its time to go to bed

Time is passing in the TV light
Its such a shame to waste another night
When there aint nothing on the silver screen
Can hold a candle to you and me
