Infrared

from Careless

She naps in a sunny chair
Out in the summer garden
The breeze that disturbs her hair
Is rifling through the pages
Of the magazine lying open in the grass
There where she let it
Fall as her arm did
Naked from the elbow down

The radial taper slight
Flowing along the ulna
Her wrist is a rivulet
Into the finger delta
Opening into molecules of air
Nitrogen, Argon,
Carbon Dioxide, Oxygen

She inhales, she exhales
Inhale, exhale
Dreaming her heart's desire
The secret she's told to no one
Visible now in infrared

The gaussian plume is seen
By an oogenetic culex
Narrowing down the stream
Back to the dozing vertex
Lateral turns and counter-turns
Across the scent of the blood host
Pheromone levels spiking

She's in love for the first time
In love for the first time
Dreaming her heart's desire
The secret she's told to no one
Visible now in infrared
Inhale, exhale
Visible now in infrared
She is a radiant form
A nexus of information
Visible now in infrared
Inhale, exhale…
